A thread to vent spleen, simply let off steam - or express incredulous disgust. This from the BBC: ***Interviewed in his cell, Irving added that "Hitler's own involvement has a big question mark behind it", before repeating his belief that an extermination policy did not exist. "Given the ruthless efficiency of the Germans, if there was an extermination programme to kill all the Jews, how come so many survived?" he said. *** - One question mark that doesn't exist. A second that shouldn't. |

Given the ruthless efficiency of the germans. I should have belived that by now, Galbraith´s essay on how nazi germany was badly run should be common knwoledge. The ruthless efficiency was as much a lie as anything else with that bunch. But Martin, for me this is not so much indedulous disgust as the plain old variety of disgust . |

Hmm. Wagy beef, fresh lobe foie gras, black truffle mayonnaise... there's a difference to McDonald's beef patties you'll enjoy! I'm loving it. |

Apart from the cost, which instantly brings out my puritan side, once you'd covered it in mustard, mayonnaise, etc. you might as well be eating a slice of spam or Linda McCartney's finest from the Co-Op: you wouldn't taste a thing. Likewise, wasn't an NY pizza firm offering a speciality a year or so back, covered with truffles, for $1,000 ..? |

English plum tomatoes? At this time of year? Pshaw. And what's the big deal about 24 hour fermented sour dough bread? I make it all the time. |

Er - there is a big deal about it? This sounds like the kind of thing the "Observer" obsesses about, but my Sundays have cheered up no end since I stopped reading it. |

No big deal to me, but they mentioned the bread as if it helped justify the price. |
