Just back from a long weekend in Edinburgh. Nice city.

Very much impressed by Charles Avery's The Islanders exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Avery describes in intricate pencil drawings, sculptures, "artifacts" (including a mirrored infinity chamber) and text, an imaginary island which is one part Isle of Mull, one part Ridley Road Market in Dalston to two parts Borges. Also reminded me of the vertigo of Gifco, late Viriconium or indeed Nova Swing.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood:
