\u201dJust a bit of a different look than I\u2019m used to,\u201d Sparrar admits. He nods. \u201cYou look\u2026 different.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dThank you,\u201d you decide to take it as a compliment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dCan I get you a drink, Bae?\u201d says Sparrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dGet me a bottle of Budvar and a half-pint glass,\u201d says Bae. \u201cI like to top up my glass a little at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dFair enough,\u201d says Sparrar, standing up. \u201cI\u2019ve been hearing a lot about ladettes, and I guess we must be moving with the times.\u201d
\u201dAnd I\u2019ll have the same,\u201d you say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sparrar gives you a straight look. Assessing who this stranger at the table is. A glass breaks in the background. Everyone at the bar cheers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dWhat\u2019s wrong, Sparrar?\u201d says Bae. \u201cDon\u2019t you have enough cash on you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dIt\u2019s fine, I\u2019ll get them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He hunches off to the bar, and Bae gives you a thumbs up. \u201cHe might try something else before the evening is over, but I\u2019m hoping that I can get him to cast off that\u2026 act, that bullshit, so we can see the real Sparrar for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sparrar returns with the drinks. He places a bottle of Budvar with a half-pint glass as a lid in front of you without a word. As he puts Bae\u2019s glass on the table and begins to pour, he roars, \u201cthere you go, princess!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A psychic wave rolls across the pub and everyone is silent. Waiting.
