You find Adrian at the furthest pool table drinking red wine with a short goth girl, which is a surprise to you because you didn’t know that there were short goth girls. He is reading from a black bound book, and as he raises his hand to recite the next stanza with sufficient drama, he blinks as he sees you.
You turn to leave.
”Epson?” he says. “It is Epson, isn’t it? I couldn’t recognise you in that… looks exquisite on you!”
You check the girl’s reaction to this. She seems to be smiling through a lot of black lipstick. “Yeah, Bae found some hand-me-downs for me,” you drawl as casually as you can.
”Yeah, Bae will do that for a friend,” he says.
”Adrian is so awfully rude,” says the girl, “so I’ll have to introduce myself. I’m Eloise.”
Not sure about the protocol, you nod. “Nice to meet you.”
Adrian’s eyes focus on his wineglass, noticing one crucial fact. “I better get a refill. I’ll be right back. Don’t suck any of Epson’s blood, yeah?”
