You fairly hiss with disbelief. “Where do boys like you get off, Sparrar?” you ask. You’re not sure where you plagiarised this line from, but it sounds quite assured.

”What is this?” Sparrar stands up, playing to the crowd. “What is this little…?”

”Epson Moore is the name,” you reply, “but you can call me The Shadow.”

Bae gestures to you to stand down. “Epson is my friend. Is that so hard for you to understand?”

”Yeah, don’t be a plonker, mate!” Jinge shouts from somewhere at the back.

“Shut it, Jinge! I’ll tell you what I find hard to understand, darling,” says Sparrar, “I find it hard to understand why you prefer that,” he jabs one accusing finger into your chest, “to me.”

“I’m not your darling, Sparrar. And neither am I a princess.” Bae pushes Sparrar’s finger away from your chest.

”I was just trying to be nice,” Sparrar looks deflated. “What did I do wrong?”

”Even Jinge knows what you did wrong,” you tell him.

A growl starts in Sparrar’s throat.
