A vintage print summer frock catches your eye. And the material! It’s so soft! You peel off your old skin and slide into the dress. Checking yourself in the full-length looking glass, a stranger is gazing back at you. Even with your tidy hair and parting, the change is shocking.
On the other side of the screens, the door opens and there is a clinking of teaspoons and china. “I didn’t know how much milk and sugar you take so I brought everything.”
You redden for a moment at the thought that there is someone else in the room with the new you.
”I hope you’re wearing something behind there because I’m going to pull back the screens in five, four, three, two, one, zero!” There is a moment of silence. Bae nods. “Unexpected,” she says, “I never wear any of that stuff anymore, but it looks good on you.”
”Thank you,” you blush a little, but happily.
”There’s a kingfisher blue cardi in there somewhere that might look good with that.” Bae pours the tea. “And I’ve got some unused black leggings if you want to go the full Sarah Records vibe.” She hands you a cup of tea.
Time to embrace the new you! (goto 93)
