“The books in the 200 section deal with religion and mythology. Sections 216 and 217 are no longer used. These previously were devoted to “evil” and “prayer” respectively. Section 218 is however still with us for the time being.
“The lion’s share of this century is devoted to Christianity, as most of the books about religion that were written in the period up to Melvil Dewey’s time were from a Western perspective. For this reason all of the other religions are squeezed in between 290 and 299.
